There are a few important requirements for the rates you publish on your website. Your rates and discounts are up to you, but here’s an example of what your published rates might look like:
Accident rehabilitation $160/hr
Massage $100/hr
20% discount for kama’aina
Here is why:
1. You are not allowed to charge one insurance company more than another.
Because of this we have to list the maximum we hope to get paid by all insurance companies. Some less common federal workers compensation cases pay up to $157, so, starting in 2023 we are going to be billing $160/hr. This is the price you should list on your website even though most of the time we will be paid much less. This is common in billing insurance to accept less than the full amount you bill.
2. You are not allowed to charge more for insurance massage than your published rate for the same service without insurance.
The way we deal with this is to list a service like “Accident Rehabilitation” with its own rate. This is reasonable due to the increased skill required in treating accident patients. If someone wants to do this type of work without insurance you are welcome to give them whatever discount you want.
